The Eastside property represents a significant opportunity for Appia to distinguish itself in Saskatchewan’s extensive uranium landscape. With geophysical indicators favorable for deep uranium deposits and surface samples confirming traces of uranium and rare earth elements, Eastside offers Appia the potential to enhance its uranium prospects and contribute to Saskatchewan’s substantial uranium resources.
Located within the Archean-aged Peter Lake Domain, our property hosts platinum group elements (PGE) including gold, copper, and REE. The Eastside property lies in a geological region renowned for containing over 1 billion pounds of high-grade U3O8. The area features a variety of rock types prime for uranium discovery such as pegmatites and metasedimentary gneisses.
Our property, situated about 85 km east of the Athabasca Basin margin, offers a near-surface uranium deposit model hosted within pegmatites.
Airborne radiometric surveys uncovered radioactive boulders, till, and outcrop across our property. Ground prospecting and sampling revealed uranium concentrations upwards of 2,523 ppm, with an average grade of 360 ppm uranium. Notably, twelve samples exceeded 1,000 ppm uranium.
Exploring a 1.7 km geological strike revealed three outcrop samples mineralized with uranium. Additionally, five boulders, sharing lithological characteristics with the outcrops and strategically located down-ice, returned uranium levels surpassing 1,000 ppm.
Appia has conducted a series of explorative initiatives on the Eastside property in Northern Saskatchewan, revealing notable uranium and rare earth element (REE) potential through various surveys and sampling activities.
2017: In late August to early September, Appia initiated an extensive airborne geophysical survey conducted by Terraquest Ltd. This survey covered approximately 66.5 km² and incorporated a horizontal magnetic gradient, radiometric, and Matrix VLF-EM technologies. The data collected helped identify numerous radiometric highs and differentiated lithologies, particularly in the southern part of the property. These areas correlated with previously discovered uraniferous outcrops and potential Tabbernor fault lines, important for guiding future uranium prospecting.
2020 to 2022: Building on the geophysical insights, Appia undertook ground-based prospecting, mapping, and sampling led by Vortex Helicopters Ltd. This phase led to the discovery of new zones, notably “Area 51” and “Area 7575,” which demonstrated promising uranium grades, including 0.086 wt% U3O8 in Area 51. A comprehensive Mineral Prospectivity Mapping (MPM) was then created by Resourceful Geoscience Solutions, integrating geological, geophysical, and geochemical data to highlight potential targets for uranium, PGE, and REE.
2024: Most recently, guided by findings from a new Mineral Prospectivity Survey and historical data, Appia’s team, supported by Mustang Helicopters Inc., identified two significant zones: “Prospectors Peninsula” and “High Count Hilltop.” These zones, located based on past and recent surveys, yielded several uranium samples indicating mineralization up to 2,523.06 ppm U3O8. Additionally, a noteworthy REE sample from “Prospector’s Peninsula” showed a grade of 0.14 wt% TREO.
The Eastside project makes smart use of helicopter support, providing rapid and efficient access that enhances the overall productivity of our exploration and operational activities. This approach optimizes the ability to reach various key sites swiftly.
Situated near essential transportation infrastructure, Eastside enjoys year-round accessibility by both plane and ice road. This strategic location ensures that our operations can continue seamlessly throughout the year, offering logistical convenience and operational continuity.
The project aspires to bolster Saskatchewan’s uranium supply, aiming to solidify the province’s pivotal role in the global nuclear energy sector.
As the world transitions to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources, Appia aims to play a central role in meeting global demand by harnessing uranium resources found at its four uranium properties, including Eastside.
